Winter 2008
Happy Winter!! and welcome to the new and improved TwinzGear. We've spent many hours updating our design and making the site safer and easier to use for our customers. We hope you like and we'd love to hear from our customers. Tell us what you think so we can continue to make our site even better for Twins families.
Winter is also time for settling back into the family routine after the joy and craziness of the holidays. Our family enjoyed an extended visit from Grandma and Grandpa over the holidays so it was a bit of an adjustment to got back to having just our immediate family in the house after New Years.
We have spent many, many hours (and years for that matter) working with our boys on proper manners and how to be polite when asking for something or recognizing receiving something with the proper words. "Please" and "Thank You" are absolute MUSTS in our house. In my opinion it's critical to the smooth operation of the house hold (especially a household with twins). However somewhere in the excitment and craziness of the last few months, by boys seem to slipped a bit.
Those wonderful, polite boys that we were so proud to take out in public, have regressed into "I want lunch" or "More milk" little buggers with little mention of a please or thank you. I'm still not entirely sure how it happened. But one things for sure, it certainly did!!
I thought that once the boys had their polite manners, we could check that box and move onto the next challenge. However it's become really clear to me in the past few weeks that my husband and I are back on the politeness police duty in full force. I've gone as far as to tell my boys that if they don't ask for something properly, then I'm not even going to respond. I told them, "Mommy doesn't hear you unless you use proper manners......" Getting the quiet treatment from one's parent seems to be quite a motivator, so I'm sticking with it for my boys.
And since they are twins ofcourse they are helping to reinforce with each other. If one asks for apple juice with no manners (and therefore no response from Mommy) the other one will remind him how he needs to make his request in order to ensure he does in fact get the apple juice refill. It's actually quite amazing (and in my opinion very cute) to watch. Just another example of the joys of twins!! |
FEATURE OF THE MONTH!
Twins Clean
Shopper

Each month we feature a product with particular appeal for twins and twins families. Last month we talked about the Ski Trainer Kit. We used it for our twins with GREAT success and a number of TwinzGear readers have shared similar stories of great family ski outings. This month, I’d like to feature the Twins Clean Shopper. This product is definitely a TwinzGear twins store Great Gear pick. As a mother of twins, I do the majority of my shopping at warehouse stores. These stores have the double grocery carts that can hold two children (which is a huge help when shopping with twins). Twins Clean Shopper allows me to protect my kids from all the dirt and germs that are always found on the grocery carts. If your house is anything like mine, I go to just about any lengths to avoid a cold or flu making its way through my family. The Twins Clean Shopper helps avoid picking up those germs every time we go to the store. And it’s machine washable, so when ever it needs a washing, I just throw it in the machine. It’s GREAT!! Check it out here. It’s a great shower gift and can be used as long as the twins still fit in the front portion of the grocery cart. My twins are 4 and we’re still using it!! |
